This special album showcases the legendary guitarist working outside of the original Jimi Hendrix Experience trio. Beginning in 1968, Jimi Hendrix grew restless, eager to develop new material with old friends and new ensembles. Outside the view of a massive audience that had established the Experience as rock’s largest grossing concert act and simultaneously placed two of his albums together in the US Top 10 sales chart, Jimi was busy working behind the scenes to craft his next musical statement. These twelve recordings encompass a variety of unique sounds and styles incorporating many of the elements—horns, keyboards, percussion and second guitar—Jimi wanted to incorporate within his new music. People Hell & Angels presents some of the finest Jimi Hendrix guitar work ever issued and provides a compelling window into his growth as a songwriter, musician and producer.

Morning Symphony Ideas is an extraordinary collection of previously unreleased studio and home demo recordings. Dagger's two previous releases, Live At The Oakland Coliseum and Live At Clark University presented the original Jimi Hendrix Experience on tour at the peak of their powers. Morning Symphony Ideas places its focus on Jimi's songwriting and his unique approach toward developing new material at home and in the recording studio. Where officially authorized albums such as First Rays Of The New Rising Sun and South Saturn Delta gave light to such promising, yet unfinished studio fare as "Message To The Universe" and "Hey Baby (New Rising Sun)", Morning Symphony Ideas probes even further, providing an invaluable insight into Jimi's creative process. These six 1969 and 1970 studio and home demo recordings reveal the earliest stages of Jimi's songwriting technique. "Jungle", "Room Full Of Mirrors", and the extended workout "Keep On Groovin'" showcase Hendrix in full flight with Band Of Gypsys drummer Buddy Miles and on "Strato Strut", with Miles and bassist Billy Cox. These vibrant studio recordings freely intertwine elements from many of the promising songs the guitarist had been rounding into form throughout 1969. Jimi's home demo of "Scorpio Woman" is equally revealing. Recorded in Maui, Hawaii during his extended July/August 1970 retreat on the island, Jimi wove a host of fertile melodies throughout the song's embryonic structure. Throughout this fascinating twenty-one minute workout, Jimi intently established the foundation for a host of exciting new ideas he had in development. Singing live over his own electric guitar accompaniment, Jimi expanded upon the "Scorpio Woman" theme by incorporating tantalizing snatches of other familiar phrases and rhythm patterns advanced by the guitarist in 1969 and 1970. Part one of this collection features The Experience’s October 9, 1967 performances at Paris’ famed L’Olympia Theatre. These raw, direct to two-track live recordings made for French radio document The Experience's triumphant return to Paris almost one year to the date of their 1966 showcase as a support act for Johnny Hallyday. This return engagement saw an exuberant, sold out house roared their approval throughout the evening. The L’Olympia performance came just eight days after sessions for what would become Axis: Bold As Love had resumed at London's Olympic Studios on October 1, 1967. The Experience was in top form on this evening, roaring out of the gate with "Stone Free" and followed, much to the frenzied delight of the audience, with vibrant renditions of "Hey Joe" and "Fire." Beyond the two songs already set aside as part of 2000’s The Jimi Hendrix Experience box set, two additional Paris performances have not been included on this release. Technical problems commenced during the latter half of "Catfish Blues" and a malfunctioning microphone rendered "Burning Of The Midnight Lamp" and "Foxey Lady" unusable. Thankfully, Jimi's vocal microphone was restored just prior to the start of B.B. King's "Rock Me Baby." A compact "Red House" prefaced a grinding, muscular take of "Purple Haze." From Paris we move to San Francisco and The Winterland Ballroom. In the interim, the Experience had completed Axis: Bold As Love and had come to San Francisco to kick off their US tour in support of the album. Impresario Bill Graham had booked the group to perform eight concerts over four consecutive nights. The Experience performed at the Fillmore Auditorium on February 1st while The Winterland Ballroom hosted the performances on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Each of the eight performances were sold out.
